Smokey Mountain Day Trip (28 birds)
I spent yesterday in the Great Smokey Mountains. When I planned the trip three months ago I had no idea that it would be such a beautiful day. Humidity was relatively low. The day time high at Clingman's Dome was 67 and hardly a cloud. I could see things as far as 90 miles away. The good news is I had 28 birds for the day. The bad news is most of those are ones I already have for the year. Here's the new ones.
215. Common Raven (Clingman's Dome)
216. Backburnian Warbler (Cades Cove)
217. Northern Parula (Cades Cove)
218. Chestnut-sided Warbler (Cades Cove)
219. Ovenbird (Cades Cove)
220. Red-Breasted Nuthatch (Clingman's Dome -- I was able to call this one in with a recorded digital song of his likeness. He got within 6 feet of me and sat rather disgusted that I could deceive him so).
221. Black-Capped Chickadee (Between Clingman's Dome and Newfound Gap at a pull in)
I'm ready to spend several days at the Smokies and do nothing but bird. I actually didn't bird as much as it appears as I was there for personal retreat and planning.
