Trip surrounding Oshkosh Camporee

Here's my list of new birds surrounding the Oshkosh Camporee.

On the way up to Oshkosh we stopped near St Louis, MO at a rest stop just on the Illinois side. In 2005 at the GC Session I spent several days combing the streets of St Louis for a US lifer (saw it in Europe) I've always wanted to have but couldn't find it. Then when I wasn't expecting it there is was.

223. Euroasian Tree Sparrow

On the way home from Oshkosh our family went to the UP of MI and then to Ohio to Ruth's family. On Michigans UP I added:

224. Herring Gull
225. Doublecrested Comorant
226. Ruddy Turnstone (Migrant)
227. Semi-Palmated Sandpiper (Migrant)
228. Northern Goshawk

I tried to add a Norther Saw-whet Owl. Andrew and myself left our campground and went to White Fish point to where the US Dept of Interior Service operates an ornithological research station. At night during the summer between 10:00 p.m. and dawn ornithologists conduct research and banding of Northern Saw-Whet Owls. They have an audio Lure of the owls playing and have banded as many as 1500 Northern Saw-Whet Owls in a season in their nets. Unfortunately we waited until 11:00 p.m. and they had not yet captured any in our night so we had to leave because I had a very tired boy with me.

In Ohio near lake Erie I was able to add
229. Least Bittern
230. Northern Pintail
231. Black Crowned Night Heron
232. Mute Swan
